The University of Texas at Dallas has donated thousands of face masks and gloves to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. The university’s Vice President for Research, Joseph Pancrazio, reported that the university was fulfilling its duty to the community as a public institution. With a moral imperative, the prominent Texas academic center is supporting health care providers fighting COVID-19 on the front line.

A public research university with its main campus in Richardson, Texas, it is part of the University of Texas System. The institution was established in 1961 as a Graduate Research Center of the Southwest and later renamed the Southwest Center for Advanced Studies (SCAS)—it began as a research arm of Texas Instruments. In 1969, the founders bequeathed SCAS to the state of Texas, creating the University of Texas, Dallas. It has grown rapidly and now offers more than 140 academic programs across eight schools and contains more than 50 research centers and institutes.
