University of Utah Survey: Doctors Blame Big Pharma on Healthcare Costs

Wendy Leonard of Deseret News, Utah reports that a recent University of Utah study points to the conclusion that doctors believe the pharmaceutical industry represents the number one factor behind healthcare cost increases.  The study reveals that of doctors surveyed “overwhelmingly believe pharmaceutical firms, followed closely by insurance companies, hospitals and health care systems, have the biggest impact on costs.” According to the survey the Leonard reports “Unfortunately, the survey reveals, the physicians don’t feel equipped or prepared to talk about financial concerns of patients and believe health care costs are too confusing for patients to figure out on their own.”
