UC Davis Clinical Translational Science Center Secures NCATS $33m Renewal for Clinical Research from Bench to Bedside

UC Davis continues to reinforce its growing research clout as the UC Davis Clinical Translational Science Center (CTSC) received its third National Institute of Health (NIH) annual renewal, a data point of confidence in the research center’s ability to do a stellar job progressing human research. The 5-year, nearly $33 million award comes from NIH’s National Center for Advancing Translational Science (NCATS) and provides funding to CTSC to continue its essential services for the UC Davis research community.

UC Davis’ involvement with NCATS goes back to 2006 when the Northern California campus was one of the first of 12 NIH Clinical Translational Science Awards (CTSA) in the nation to establish a center from clinical and translational science. These awards supported the full range of translational research (from bench to bedside to dissemination and implementation) as well as a hub for researchers focusing on human health. Behind the leadership of Lars Berglund, UC Davis’ CTSC was able to successfully renew these awards from 2011 and 2016.
