Traditional Chinese Medicine Combo Therapy & Nanotechnology-based Precision Delivery for Tumors

As reported in DovePress,  cancer is now the world’s leading cause of death.  Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)-combination therapy is a new treatment approach and a vital therapeutic strategy for cancer according to these Chinese clinical investigators. They believe this approach may exhibit promise for antitumor treatments.  Nano targeted drug-delivery systems have advantages and offer TCM-combination therapies by systematically controlling drug release and hence targeted delivery of drugs to solid tumors.  The investigators review anticancer activity of TCM compounds. They analyze the combined use of TCM for antitumor treatment.  The focused combination therapies, using a single nanocarrier system (codelivery), are analyzed and over 200 studies published in PubMed since 1985 are reviewed (no patents involved) in order to provide a few basic considerations in terms of the design principles and management of targeted nanotechnology-based TCM-combination therapies.
