RWJBarnabas Health System’s Clinical Research as Cancer Care Option Drives Ethos of $750m New Research & Care Center

New Jersey’s first freestanding cancer hospital, with a central theme of clinical research as a care option, is now under construction as groundbreaking commenced late last week for the new Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, named after local philanthropists, will offer a range of comprehensive services and research laboratories affording educational opportunities for medical students as well as a compelling integrated environment for physicians and their patients’ to embrace the latest investigational breakthroughs such as targeted immuno-oncology. At 510,000 square feet, this large 12-story facility also offers the residents here in the most populated metropolitan area in the country access to advanced diagnostic tests and a standard suite of care options. The $754 million project to be completed in 2024 is located on Somerset Street adjacent to the existing Rutgers Cancer Institute and  Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
