Dr. Siguna Mueller, from the Center for Research in Medical Pharmacology at the University of Insubria, Italy, critically evaluated a study by Feldstein et al., which analyzed the effectiveness of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines in children aged 6 months to 4 years. The study, conducted with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) collaboration, examined vaccine impact on SARS-CoV-2 infection and symptomatic COVID-19 among vaccinated and unvaccinated children during a prospective cohort study from September 2022 to April 2023.

Mueller’s analysis challenges Feldstein’s conclusions, particularly the assertion that vaccines reduce severe disease and that hybrid immunity (vaccine plus prior infection) offers superior protection.
