University of Washington $21m Along with Others as Biden Cancer Moonshot Focuses on Surgery & Identification of Cancerous Cells

A new clinical trial at University of Washington could pave the way for surgeons to identification of cancer in real time. Senator Maria Cantwell, a Democrat of Washington State announced a $21 million funding for the University of Washington, part of President Joe Biden&rsquo;s Cancer Moonshot initiative.&nbsp; 
For nearly a decade, scientists have been investigating technology to help surgeons determine how successful tumor removal is, and if the patient has lingering cells during the actual surgery. This topic is the latest target for funding affiliated with federal grants.
