University of Oklahoma Researcher Receives Federal Grant to Explore Natural Cancer Treatments

A University of Oklahoma researcher has received a three-year grant worth approximately $1 million from the National Institutes of Health to evaluate thousands of natural products with therapeutic potential against cancer.

Chinthalapally V. Rao, Ph.D., College of Medicine professor and director of the Center for Cancer Prevention and Drug Development at OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center will coordinate with the National Cancer Institute’s National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, which has a repository of approximately 500,000 diverse natural product samples.
