U.S. AstraZeneca Lawsuit Set for Oct 29, 2024—AstraZeneca Seeks PREP Act Shield—But Was the Act Meant to Protect Against Breach of Contract?

TrialSite was the first to scoop the lawsuit of vaccine injured Brianne Dressen, founder of the non-profit React19 against AstraZeneca, and trial site network Velocity Clinical Research. This latter defendant has been dropped from the lawsuit.&nbsp; Ms. Dressen alleges that the Anglo-Swedish giant failed to adhere to the terms of the contract of the clinical trial participation involving the coverage of medical expenses should there be any sustained injuries during the study participation. Now, the court date is set for October 29, 2024.
Not surprisingly, AstraZeneca argues they are shielded by the liability waiver afforded by the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness (PREP) Act. But does the PREP Act excuse activity such as breach of contract? &nbsp;
