Stanford Cancer Institute CAR-T Cell Therapy Pediatric Phase 1 Clinical Trial Reports First Patient First Visit, Important Milestone

In clinical trials the "first patient first visit" (FPFV) milestone in a clinical trial marks a significant advancement for a handful of important reasons such as signifying the start of patient recruitment and the trial itself. This of course means that all the regulatory, ethical and logistical requirements have been met, allowing the trial to proceed. This important milestone could be even more meaningful for a particular study involving the testing of engineered immune cells to treat pediatric tumors that have demonstrated promise in a preclinical mouse model in a past study.&nbsp; Now, that therapy is the one under investigation in the first in human clinical trial. The phase 1 clinical trial evaluates the safety of the therapy and observes a therapeutic response in pediatric patients. The trial&rsquo;s first patient received their first treatment in September 2024.
