A research team from Rice University has developed an innovative approach using gene therapy for treating inherited brain disorders by targeting specific regions of the brain with groundbreaking precision. The details have been published in Nature Communications.

Gene therapy could potentially target brain disorders, however delivering therapeutic genes to the brain is a significant challenge. The standard approach for the administration of such gene therapies involves a surgical injection directly into the brain, which is invasive.
