Don’t count out the independent trial site operation just yet. Although a flood of private equity led to unprecedented consolidation in the research space, leading to companies such as Velocity Clinical Research with over 100 trial site locations in both North America and Europe. DM Clinical Research on the other hand, while remaining independent, the prominent multi-therapeutic network of clinical trial sites, continues to expand organically, this time with a physician partnership to expand trial site and investigator presence and capacity. According to its LinkedIn profile, “the largest private clinical trial network in Texas will be pushed as part of its need to remain competitive to rapidly expand across the US. The Houston headquartered trial site network announced a partnership with Dr. Jai Munjampalli and Dr. Sara Samreena to establish an embedded clinical site in Shreveport, Louisiana. This deal highlights the important trend of the move toward embedded trial sites and the clinical research as-a-care-option (CRAACO). Absolutely key for trial site expansion moving forward is access to patients that have not necessarily been involved in clinical trials, patients in the care environment.
