A group of Chinese medical researchers represented by first authors Shitao Wang, Guoshuai Luo and XiangQian Ding investigate the increased burnout among frontline nurses since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The authors point out that the prevalence of such burnout plus any linked factors of prevalence are not certain. Thus, they designed a cross-sectional study across multi-centers targeting nurses who had been actively involved in the COVID-19 pandemic response. Employing use of an online platform to collect participant data, the authors used the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey to evaluate symptoms of burnout. Seeking to pinpoint factors linked to burnout during the period April to July 2023, the China-based team ran multivariable logistic regression analysis.

The recent findings were published in BMC Public Health.
