$3.3m University of Arizona to Lead Investigation into Long COVID-links to Irritable Bowel Syndrome

An ongoing longitudinal study at the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health centering on COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 conditions, and led by epidemiologist Kristen Pogreba-Brown, Ph.D., MPH called the CoVHORT study just received a $3.3 million financial injection from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health. The target of the funding: a five-year study of gastrointestinal symptoms, with an emphasis on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) as a condition of long COVID.

The Arizona CoVHORT research study, a longitudinal research study involving the tracking more than 9,000 participants in Arizona, assesses long COVID symptoms, post-COVID-19 health impacts and treatments.
