Outbreak of Child Pneumonia Surges First in China and Now in the US.  Is Another Pandemic Possible?

Perhaps one of the residual effects of the Covid pandemic has been the hypersensitivity by countries to the possibility of a breakout of a new disease. The idea that China was, at one time, overwhelmed with Covid and, apparently, denied the spread of the virus seems to loom large in the West. And it seems the Chinese continue to downplay any sort of viral breakout in their country even though there has been at least in a couple pockets a surge respiratory disease in the Asian nation to a point where the country has been in touch with the World Health Organization (WHO). But, according to Chinese media &ldquo;the&nbsp;acute respiratory diseases that are currently prevalent in China are all caused by known pathogens, with no new infectious diseases caused by new virus or bacteria have been detected, according to the National Health Commission (NHC).&rdquo;&nbsp; Reaching out to TrialSite&rsquo;s network in China yielded&nbsp; similar data points.&nbsp; We were informed that every year there are such surges of respiratory viruses that impact some hospitals.&nbsp; Yet it would appear based on multiple media accounts that Chinese health authorities have actively responded to the high incidence of pneumonia like conditions in children and the significant increase of visits to medical facilities by increasing the hours of health institutions, extended service hours and increased hospital bed capacity. This along with reports of Beijing hospitals being &ldquo;overwhelmed&rdquo; with cases of respiratory illnesses in children. Yes according to our sources and Asian media such as CTN the Chinese have &ldquo;flare ups&rdquo; like this on a yearly basis but in the post Covid era this has caused some alarm around the world.
