New $1b R&D Center Attracts Royalty at Unveiling—Cambridge, UK the Powerhouse of Biomedical Research

Cambridge, United Kingdom’s position as one of the top elite biotech research clusters just got stronger with the announcement by AstraZeneca of the opening of their state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) facility designed to the world’s highest environmental standards while home to over 2,200 research scientists. The facility is known as The Discovery Centre (DISC). A £1 billion facility includes advanced robotics, high-throughput screening and AI-driven technology to support the English company’s focus on specialized and precision medicines as well as support its mission of discovering and developing next generation therapeutics, including nucleotide-based, gene-editing and cell therapies. The building is situated in the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the largest center of biomedical research and health science in all of Europe.
