Nemours Children’s Health System Research Shows 10 Percent of Pediatric Asthma Can Be Avoided

Nemours Children’s Health System led research reveals that 10 percent of pediatric asthma cases could be avoided if childhood obesity was eliminated, as reported in Health Europa.

Now published in the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Nemours’ investigators studied more than 500,000 children and is among the first to use the resources of PEDSnet, a multi-specialty network that conducts observational research and clinical trials across eight of the nation’s largest children’s health systems. The investigators conclude that obesity increases the probability of pediatric asthma occurring.
