Up to 8 million children in the United States struggle with asthma. A research team from Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children led a real-word analysis of over 500,000 youth medical records using PEDSnet, a network that conducts research and clinical trials across large children’s health systems. Based on their findings, the resource group believes that approximately 10 percent of pediatric asthma cases may be avoided in the absence of obesity. The researchers have found a compelling link between obesity and asthma. Pediatric asthma is one of the most common of youth conditions, and there are numerous implications from the study’s conclusion.
