India’s First COVID-19 Vaccine Kids Clinical Trial Fully Enrolled

Apparently, the movement to vaccinate children with COVID-19 vaccines has met a critical milestone in India as a recent clinical trial investigates the indigenously developed Covaxin vaccine. According to sources in India, three groups of children and adolescents were fully enrolled, including groups 2-6, 6-12, and 12-18. The 175 children are all closely monitored for complications as well for any level of immune response, shared by Dr. Sanjay Rai who leads trials at AIIMS Delhi. The other five trial sites across India include ESI, Delhi, AIIMS Patna, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, Prakhar Hospital, Kanpur, Hyderabad-based Pranaam Hospital, and Nagpur-based Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences.

The Study

Approved by DCGI in early May, the study first commenced at AIIMS Patna, and another similar one launched later at AIIMS Delhi. A total of 525 children participated with 175 children in one of three age groups, reported Livemint.
