Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Dara-Farber), one of the world’s top comprehensive cancer treatment and research sites in Boston, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, is actually ranked as the third best cancer hospital in the world. That prominence and status was recognized recently by the Hale family with a $50 million gift, one of the largest single gifts in the institute’s history. The money will support the Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research, founded in 2016 with $15 million from Judith, Robert and Karen Hale. The total amount granted by this family exceeds $80 million. While Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Research is a national leader in this field of important research, the new Hale family funds directly two primary, and important, areas involving pancreatic research, including 1) early detection and prevention and 2) precision medicine and biology.
