Fujifilm Holdings Corporation’s Avigan will be tested on COVID-19 patients in Egypt. That northern African nation commenced a clinical trial recently. Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, the Egyptian Presidential Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs, reports that this particular treatment is “one of the best.”
As of this writing, Egypt reports 3,891 cases and 287 deaths. With nearly 100 million inhabitants, the nation thus far has avoided some of the real problems experienced to the north in European countries, such as Italy or to the east in Iran. Some in Egypt believe they are just facing the “tip of the iceberg,” and the numbers are quite low.
