On CBS’s Face the Nation, Sunday, August 15, 2021, Dr. Antony S. Fauci, Director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases discussed infection control of the coronavirus, saying “We have a lot of tasks. Who gave public health authorities the right to supersede rights and freedoms of citizens when mitigating viral infections? How did public health authorities balance rights and freedoms with infection control measures in previous pandemics? How can we restore a proper balance in which infection control measures work within, not outside, the framework of our rights and freedoms?
