Creighton University, in partnership with CHI Health, were selected as trial sites for the “Clinical Characteristics of Post-Acute COVID-19” study funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to investigate the effects of COVID-19 following the acute illness. This study involves examining the effects of COVID in patients who have exhibited significant symptoms of the disease, suggests Maureen Tierney, MD, chair of the Department of Clinical Research at Creighton School of Medicine medical director at CHI Health. Dr. Tierney serves the study as principal investigator representing Creighton/CHI.
Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) (CHI Health) represents one of the largest non-profit health systems in the country. With a vast footprint in Nebraska and southwest Iowa, and 14 hospitals in metro and rural settings, they have often partnered with Creighton University, a Catholic university, to care for COVID-19 patients across this region.
