Cincinnati Children’s Lead $8m PCORI-funded Study Probing Efficacy of Telehealth for Suicidal Teens in COVID-19 Crisis

A new multi-site study involving Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center investigates a comparison of outcomes involving psychiatric treatment of suicidal adolescents in various treatment settings—including a telehealth platform. Given the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring crisis, the investigators seek to better understand the safety and efficacy of treating suicide prevention via telehealth platform made far more common during the public health crisis. The study is made possible by a nearly $8 million injection from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to explore options to treat adolescents struggling with suicidal thoughts.
