Cancer Research UK’s Entrepreneurial Programmes Initiative includes a new partner; life science and healthcare business accelerator Start Codon now has teamed up to help promote the development of new business ventures within academia. The Cambridge, UK cluster will be the first target for a series of educational programs helping multi-disciplinary oncology research communities embrace entrepreneurship, company formation, operations and fundraising—all to help catalyze a more dynamic startup ecosystem.
The World’s Largest Independent Funder of Cancer Research
Cancer UK is purported to be the largest independent funder of cancer research worldwide. They established this initiative to “bridge the gap between medical research advancements and the translation of research findings into clinical practice by providing oncology researchers” the practical skills infrastructure and other critical support requires for the acceleration of ideas to actual ventures that can operate to discover, develop and commercialize new treatments.
Who is Start Codon?
By leveraging the resources of the Cambridge, UK biotech cluster, Start Codon identifies and supports new disruptive life science-based startups. Based in the Cambridge Biomedical Innovation Hub, they identify and recruit the most disruptive life science and healthcare startups worldwide, seed fund them and leverage the exceptional resources of the Cambridge Cluster to “de-risk” and drive their success.
